I do think better when my surroundings are in order. But, one can easily become a little obsessive compulsive about it. So, I try to keep it in check….like it’s only going to be confined to an hour on my to-list.
This morning’s Bible reading led me to 1Corinthians 14:40, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” Not everything is in order in my household — never will be. But I think it’s a worthy goal to try to keep the chaos at bay. Just like the closet organizing systems or the books on de-cluttering show, it really is easier to function when everything has a place.
But doing things decently….that’s a bigger bite to chew on. That’s where His guidance comes into play. Deciding what on that ever-growing to-do list gets done today, and how well or haphazardly it gets done — or when to chuck it all and call a friend, and follow a hunch–that’s when I need to follow His persistent nudges. We all have them. And yes we still have to get the critical things done on our lists, like work, paying bills, daily responsibilities, keeping commitments. But when we can ask for His guidance to lead us, the most amazing things can happen.
With blessings and kind regards to you all.
